Summer

One of the toughest seasons on your hair is summer. Sun exposure to your hair can give it natural highlights and add vitamins and minerals to your skin and hair. Too much exposure, on the other hand, can lead to a sunburnt scalp, which will leave your scalp flaky and your hair dehydrated. When in the sun for long periods of time, wear a hat that protects your scalp and shields your face. There are also shampoos and conditioners that can help protect the scalp from sunburns.

 

Similarly to the sun, chlorine and salt water can damage your hair. When swimming in a pool or the ocean, protect your hair with a quality conditioner that you can leave in your hair. It will help keep your hair from splitting, losing its color, or breaking.

 

Scalp

The health of your scalp is just as important as the health of your hair. It is important to keep your scalp moisturized and exfoliated with scalp masks and good conditioners. When showering, take a couple of minutes to massage your scalp, as it can keep the blood flowing.

The wrong ingredients in shampoos and conditioners can actually strip your hair of essential nutrients, leaving it dry and dull. Organic products with natural ingredients are best for the hair, as they are chemical-free products. If you cannot find organic shampoos and conditioners, try to stay away from the ones that have two or more chemical detergents in the ingredient list.

 

Brush

Brushing your hair helps keep the natural oils in your hair dispersed evenly, naturally moisturizing the strands. When brushing your hair, be gentle with your strokes.
