Dealing With Bad Breath Due to Tonsil Stones

According to recent studies, as many as 60 million people in the United States may suffer from bad breath. While some reasons for bad breath can be resolved by simply brushing and flossing with more frequency, other issues are not so easy to resolve. Some of these include dentures, medications that cause dry mouth, frequent dieting, and even chronic tonsillitis. Another cause of bad breath is the development of tonsil stones. These are caused when bacteria, food particles, and debris get stuck in one’s tonsils and combine with the mouth’s own bacteria. This debris tends to collect into small tonsil pockets and forms into small stones that can cause noticeable bad breath. The stones may also cause sore spots in the back of the throat, swelling and irritation. Many who struggle with this issue wonder just how to remove tonsil stones, while others simply wonder how to get rid of the bad breath!

Listed below are a few ways that people often try to address bad breath:

Frequent Mouthwash

Many with chronic bad breath begin to frequently use mouthwash. Studies have shown that using mouthwash too frequently can actually help bacteria to grow in your mouth because your mouthwash may have stripped away an important mucous shield. The strong bacterium that was able to survive the mouthwash is then even more capable of causing damage in your mouth and bad breath.

Gum and Mints

Sugar free gum and mints are another method that people often turn to when trying to cover up the fact that they have bad breath. These help to stimulate saliva production and keep your breath smelling fresher. At times, this method can cause worry or stress when the sufferer of bad breath discovers that they are out of mints or gum and do not have time to purchase any.

Tonsil Cleaning

Some who have struggled with tonsil stones have asked around and been given advice on cleaning their mouth. These bits of advice include making sure to brush the tongue while brushing the teeth, gargling with salty water after brushing, and even dislodging the stones by pressing on the tonsil with a q-tip or bobby pin. While these methods may be temporarily effective, the tonsil stones will simply continue to rebuild and cause bad breath. Additionally, poking at your tonsils with a q-tip or a bobby pin may be inadvertently introducing very harmful bacteria into their own mouth, and it may cause more harm than good.

Tonsil Removal

Some who struggle with chronic bad breath due to tonsil stones become so tired of dealing with the issue that they decide to have their tonsils removed. While this may seem like an easy solution to get rid of the problem, tonsils actually perform a great benefit to the human body.  Research today shows that tonsils are a very important part of the immune system. Made up of lymphatic tissue, they help the body to fight off infections. Because they are in the mouth, or on the frontlines of the battle, tonsils are one of the first defenses the body has against infections.

Tonsil Rinse Kit

A new and effective solution for getting rid of tonsil stones and thus getting rid of the bad breath that accompanies them is to use a specially formulated tonsil rinse kit. By using the correct product, it is possible to get rid of tonsil stones and keep them away. This type of kit includes oxygenated toothpaste and mouthwash as well as a tongue scraper. Working together, these tools are very effective at neutralizing the bacteria that resides at the back of the tongue. These products work best when they are combined with an oxygenating serum and nasal sinus drops as well. By using these products, you make an environment that does not encourage bacterial growth, and does not allow the tonsil stones to grow. This may help your chronic bad breath to simply disappear. Some may complain that the routine of using these specially formulated products takes too much time in their day, but it is very little time when compared to other methods that may have been tried instead.

Many who suffer with chronic bad breath as a result of tonsil stones have spent valuable time trying to find ways to hide the fact that they have a problem. Instead of attempting to hide it or cover it, how about trying this solution. Chances are that you will see tonsil stone problems and bad breath disappear.
