Healthy And Easy Breakfast Ideas

You probably already know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Eating a well-balanced, healthy meal early in the day will give your metabolism a kick, meaning you’ll lose weight more easily if that’s something you’re aiming for. Even if weight loss isn’t a goal, you’ll improve your overall energy levels and wellbeing by eating right from the very start of your day. Here are a few quick and easy ideas for a healthy, balanced breakfast.

Eggs and whole grains

It’s recommended that a healthy breakfast should include at least 5 grams of protein. You can get this protein through dairy products, meats, fish or peanut butter, but eggs are also a great way of boosting your protein levels while enjoying something delicious. Scramble up some eggs, or have them hard-boiled or however you prefer, and serve with whole grain toast for fibre and complex, long-lasting carbohydrates.

If you have a little more time on your hands, an omelette can be a perfect breakfast for combining nutritious foods. Add in some spinach, peppers, mushrooms or tomato and you’ve got a rainbow of vitamin-packed vegetables mixed in with your high-protein meal.

Oats

Especially good for an energy boost on cold, wintery mornings, a bowl of porridge can be the perfect breakfast; providing whole grain energy and, if made with milk, some extra protein and calcium. Mix in some peanut butter for an additional protein kick, but be wary of the fat content if you’re watching your waist.

Fruits

It can be difficult to reach your 5 a day, but by making fruit a part of your breakfast, you’ll be on your way in no time. Mix banana, berries or whatever fruit you fancy into your cereal or oats, or combine with yoghurt and granola or muesli for a healthy start. If you’re in a rush or want to eat on the move, blending up a smoothie with fruits and yoghurt or milk can be a good way to get your day off to the right start without having to sit down and eat.
